Long story short, it's been Monday all week so just as work was ending, I got an email from a seller I contacted about a Gen 3 Glock 19. It was a long day but the gun was worth it as it was like new with two high caps so I drove out after work and bought it. I'm delighted. Tonight I'm handling both my Baby 26 and 19 - I've noticed the checkering on the front and back of the grip is sharper than the 26.

At some point, I'll be sending both to Bowie Tactical for work (probably winter). I'll be getting a trigger job and night sights but I'm curious what to do about the grips. I don't want tape or to sand it myself. I don't need a grip reduction, it's the checkering that needs to go. Would stippling the grip (front and back only or the whole grip) make the gun more comfortable to handle? Thank you.

It's difficult to advise someone on grips because everyone's hands and preferences are different.

For instance, I prefer to use Talon Grips because I prefer a rougher surface and they fit my hand like a glove. For these reasons, it would be a waste of money to have someone stiple the grips for me. I also make sure the grip on the pistol fits my hand before purchasing the pistol.

Talon has both rubber and granulated grips.

If possible, try some of the alternatives before spending the money to stiple the grips.

I have a bowie Glock 37, and it's reduced/raduised/stippled and there is a huge difference between it and my std gen 3 glocks. Even though its a sweet shooter, I'm considering letting it go, just don't shoot it enough.

Well, that's not going to be a problem with my 19/26; I love the guns. It's the checkering that I find a little sharp to the hands. I think Bowie will do a great job when I send them along, I'm just mulling over how to handle the grips on an otherwise perfect gun.

The checkering can be dulled, flattened, or otherwise modified to suit. It's all in the technique and tool used. Just tell them what feel you want/are trying to duplicate.
