A friend of mine is selling a 30-06 for an extremely low price. I want to make sure everything about this gun is legal. I know the gun is a remington 7600 in a 30-06 with synthetic grips. How do i go about registering the gun with the state of florida and make sure it isnt a stolen gun? If it turns out the gun is stolen when i call it in will i get in trouble?(Im not buying the gun until i know is legal.)

Thanks for the help!

Florida has no gun registration. If you know a cop he/she might check the gun for you, but there is no way for you to do it yourself. If you think it might be stolen don't buy it.

Would a friend sell you a stolen gun?Is the price really absurdly low and if so have you asked him or her why?
If they answer satisfactorily ,buy the gun.
If you still don't want to engage send them to me!I've been thinking about an '06 autoloader for some time.

75$$ for a good condition 1, but i just dont know if its stolen. I dont have any friends that are in law enforcement at the moment either. The guy selling it isnt really a great friend of mine, he is more of a aquantance.(excuse my spelling)

I think pawn shops are required to check serials on guns they take in. Maybe you should check with a pawn shop in your area.

Around here if you call your local PD and ask them to, they will check it for you and get back to you in a day or two.

tell your friend that you would feel most comfortable with going through an FFL transfer... call up the oakridge gun shop and range... i think they still do them for like $15... tell your friend that youll pay for it... thats all you need to do... if it does turn out to be stolen, you are in the clear because you recieved the gun through a FFL and your "friend" will have all of his information listed on the FFL paperwork
