i recently got a savage 12 fvss in 22-250. i mounted a leupold 4.5-14x50 LR on it. scope's a few years old from before they put the cut-out so you could mount it low. i ended up going with a high DNZ one piece mount. the clearance is just right with the butler creek objective cap and the heavy barrel, but with the factory stock, i have to get my cheek weld pretty much on my jaw bone instead of my cheek bone. i need to raise the comb up about half an inch and i'll be set.

what are some good options for doing this? i'll probably put a nice aftermarket stock on it someday at which point i can get something with a higher comb, but is there a good product that either adheres to the comb or wraps around the butt and adds some height? something that integrated a small ammo pouch would be pretty handy as well.

here's some pics for the heck of it

it doesn't integrate an ammo pouch, but I had a stock that wore a beartooth comb raiser. neoprene sleeve with a bunch of different sized foam inserts so you can get the height just right.

worked good enough, was cheap and didn't permanently modify the stock. I think cabelas has them still.

nice looking rifle!

i like the adjustability of the beartooth. i'll definitely keep that one in mind.

i don't think that tacops one will raise my cheek up enough to get where i like to be. i do like the ammo loops and the pouch, though.
