I put the factory scope mount onto my Henry Bigboy Steel and mounted a Leupold VX3 in low rings. Unfortunately, the steep sloping stock makes it impossible for me to get a good cheek weld when using the scope. I tried the Beartooth comb available from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Beartooth-Stock-Comb-Raising-Kit/dp/B002L9JQ4E) but it doesn't fit the stock right.

Has anyone used a riser with a Henry rifle or a similar lever action rifle and found it to work well? If so, which one?

Just make your own to fit how high you want it to be. There are many different ways to go about it, but if I was making one, I would build it out of leather and lace it onto the stock much like those made for a M1D Garand.

I ran into the same problem on my PSL54c and maybe went a bit overboard and fabricated an adjustable riser. I would most certainly NOT recommend cutting up the stock on your Henry.

I was hoping to find something off the shelf but if I can't find anything that properly fits the straight stock of he Henry, I will investigate making something myself.

I may be way off base here, but I use a Bradley Adjustable cheek rest on my M1A. www.bradleycheekrest.com
The Henry might have a more narrow stock, but an extra foam pad would rectify that. Give them a call with some dimensions.
This is a very good product, and worth some investigation for your specific use.

I think they are ugly, but Accu-Riser comb raisers work well, are fairly inexpensive, are very lightweight, and can be used without any permanent alterations to the stock. I use the CR-6000 model on my Marlin 1894.

I think some sort of leather comb raiser would look better, but they also weigh significantly more and have a bigger impact on the gun's balance and handling (which is one of the strengths of many lever guns).
