Chevelon Creek AZ small game and fishing advice

Anyone have experience in this area. Friends and I are planning a late September trip to try some trout fishing and thought about some squirrel hunting while we were. Any advice? Thanks in advance

i don't think squirrel season is in until october. check with the az fish and game.

Just checked you are correct I may adjust the trip dates as long as it doesn't mess up the fishing that is taking priority but then again rabbits will be fair game

talked to the azgf officer near Winslow and he said they were taking 12" browns out of the creek. I think an earlier trip for trout is in order and worry about the other game later.

Fishing in the creek can be a daunting task. In the fall there are plenty of squirrels, especially in the areas with oak trees. I've bagged my limit of tassel-eard and red squirrels a few times and even if you don't catch any fish you'll enjoy the scenery.
