I have read each and every post on this subject and they all show the same theme... Gunshows are stale. Gunshows are now commercial venues, gun shows are not what they used to be.... So, help me change it!! Lets get back to the way it was... It is my first load of Turkeys. It is my first attempt at producing a gun show... It is at a brand new fairground that the stale, commercial producer had no interest in... Now is your chance to support what you feel.... on 10, 11, and 12 July 2009 at the New Laramie County Fairground, 1/2 mile south of the Archer Exit (Exit 370) on I-80, Cheyenne WY. Indoor Gun Show, Seminars, Demonstrations, Sports Show, Craft Show, Horse Show, and other events all at the same place, all at the same time... Last Chance Sports Show featuring "Little Twisters" Bull Riding, Cowboy Dodge, Polaris, Suzuki, Pheasants Forever, and many others. It's an event for the entire family. Vendors invited. Open to the Public on Friday from 4 pm to 9 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm, on Sunday 9 am to 5 pm.. Food and drink available. A FRIENDLY Western atmosphere. Dont take this the wrong way, but I think I am confused by this. You wish to remove the stale BS and commercialism from gun shows? And you are going to do this by having a rodeo, craft show, sports show, food vendors, and inviting motor sports and auto manufacturers there?

The Fair Grounds are actually open? I thought they haven't even worked on that area yet...maybe I'm thinking of the new Shooting Complex they are planning on building out there. I may head out there on the 12th and look around, I'm going to be out in NE the other two days.

Call Rick down at Marv's Place, he may be interested if he isn't already planning on going.

I'll be there. But it might have to be just Sunday. (Gotta take my son back to school - He only gets a 3 week summer break. AF Academy). But I'll definitely come check it out. I personally think the Wyoming gun shows have always been pretty decent. Even the ones sponsored by WASATCH are pretty good. 95% of the show is is guns, ammo, accessories, etc... Very little jerky, preserves, etc... Matter of fact; the last one I went to last weekend had a total of 3 tables that I saw that didn't have something gun related on them. But I will definitely check the fair grounds out on the 12th.

christcorp, yep the last one had a really decent selection of black rifles for once, more then I have seen in the three years I have been hitting up the local Wasatch shows. The couple from Jackson had a really nice table full of ARs. But you still have the regulars who have the same crap every show, and the same outrageous prices, and get all pissed off when you try to haggle with them. If you want to deal with a good guy, find Tom (Missing part of his trigger finger), he has always been fair when I have dealt with him.

Yea; I know what you mean. Most of the guns I buy at gun shows are older guns. I'm into military and police. E.g. S&W Model 13-1; CZ-82; FEG AP-MBP; Nagents; etc... If I want a new gun, I'll usually get that at a gun shop. But there are a few jackoffs at the show. I was looking for some 9x18 makarov ammo. That and Tokarev ammo are about the most plentiful and cheapest handgun ammo there is. Yet, for the cheapest steel case Bear non-reloadable ammo; the one vendor wanted $15 a box and another wanted $17 a box of 50. I simply tell them I guess I will need to make an order with Sportsmansguide at $10 a box. (And that includes shipping). Of course they get snotty with you. But at the Wasatch shows, it's usually 70% who travel all over the area with the show and about 30% local vendors. (Within 100 miles). Once you get to know who is who, you can build a pretty good rapport. You can also tell who the vultures are. But I can't ever blame a vendor for being a vulture. I simply blame the ignorant customer who has no idea what they are buying. They panic buy because of something someone said. It's not a SHAME that someone sells a box of 380 for $50. It's a SHAME that someone actually BUYS it for that much.

Tom and I did a fair trade a while back on a S&W .40 for some cash and a .22, he is a decent guy. I'll check it out, always up for something new, and every gun show around these parts seem to be decent, whether they are small or not-so-small. The 2 out at Pine Bluffs (1 in Spring, and 1 in Fall) are pretty good too, but a bit smaller than Wasatch. Still, it's worth the drive. They (Pine Bluffs Sportsmans Club) have the last show before hunting season. And you KNOW how almost religious like, hunting season is around here.
