I have a 44-40 SRC that I use for cowboy shooting to save some wear on my original Winchesters. Well made (action a little loose) and seems to accept real Win parts as I changed the loop lever for a standard one. Just make sure you get a decent price as the retail is a bit pricey. Mine came from Cimarron.
These look great on the outside but last I heard they fail miserably on the inside where things count.
A fellow cowboy action shooter gave up and sold his Chiappa rifle. Another still has his 1887 lever shotgun but it's all but useless for fast shooting. The local smith that does a lot of the cowboy action slicking up work said to me that he cringes whenever a Chiappa comes in the door due to the shortcuts they take inside.
So I'd have to suggest that if you're a gambling type that is willing to take a chance then fine. But don't be surprised if you find it won't do the job and that a fix for it will be beyond economical reason. There's a lot of happy Chiappa owners out there for sure. But there's a greater number of problem stories for this brand than most others.
