Walked into my LGS, and the owner (who has seen quite a lot of my money over the years). He pulled out a 9mm 40DS, said he didn't think it would sell, and offered it for $750 something. I like pistol caliber revos, so I bought it.
I like it quite a lot; nines in a revo can be energetic, but it pushes straight back.
Then, a buddy got the really short, fixed sight version in .357, and it was remarkably soft shooting, even with full house magnums.
Stumbled onto a 40DS in .357, used, and it is also pleasant to shoot.
The double action is quite good, though I'd prefer a narrower, rounded trigger. Never noticed any cylinder burn, though you wouldn't want to climb the frame like the high speed/low drag guys.
The 'hammer' (not really; it's a cocking piece) is a little hard to thumb, but the single action is light. The 'hammer' does not remain cocked when thumbed; there is a red 'cocked gun' pin.
I'd love to find a holster for the.357; they are hard to come by. Suggestions?
