I'm really considering a Chiappa Rhino. My local shop has a couple of them, a black one in 6" and a grey/silver in 4".

Don't know what's come over me, but I'm really beginning to like the 4" model, but I'd like to get some feedback here from those that have had and shot these ugly beasts.

My good friend has a six incher and I really, really like it. The gun weighs in so light and still feels like less recoil than a steel design twice it's weight.

A THR member recently had a catastrophic failure with his. Not necessarily indicative, but an interesting read. I'll try and dig up the thread in the morning.

I have one (6-inch White Rhino) and I've put a good number of rounds through it - I've lost exact count, but it must be in the 4-5,000 range. I did a review awhile back here on THR, but I don't have time this morning to find it. In short though I absolutely love it. It has an extremely mild felt recoil, even when using full-power .357s. Some people who have tried mine have complained about the force needed to pull the hammer back for single action shooting. I don't seem to have any trouble with that.

Kodiak, I would very much appreciate a link to that when you have the time. I will look later today myself. If there was a post about a failure I certainly missed it.

Kodiak, thanks for finding that. I do remember now that I perused back through that thread. That has been the only failure of that kind that I am aware of, but that doesn't mean it should be ignored either. That guy also had a very low s/n if I remember correctly (mine is in the 45xx range if I recall).

My Rhino only shoots .38 Special and +P anymore, but this was done for reasons of cost and simplicity rather than any weakness of the gun. I suppose I could load up more hot .357s and do another test, but it will likely be inconclusive.

I would feel better about spending that kind of money on something with a company that had a better track record for quality and service. Other than that, I wouldn't hesitate.

While we're on the topic, anyone have experience with the 9mm or 40 versions of the Rhino? It's always been a short ways down the list on my quest for a fairly inexpensive moon clip revolver.

As far as I know the 9mm and .40 versions are nothing but vapor ware. Maybe I'm wrong but I've never come across them - and I've looked.

I don't see anywhere on that site where you can actually purchase it though. I'm on my phone so I'll have to look on my computer later.

It is kind of weird hearing all you guys talk about your 6" White Rhinos. :what:

I don't have one but I did watch Hickock45's video review and was intrigued.

It's been awhile since I went hunting for them and my priorities have changed with my acquisition of a 9mm LCR. It's good to hear that the other calibers have become available.

Now if they would just expand on the idea of the .40 and make a 10mm version my 610 wouldn't have to be so lonely....
