The thing Chikago most needs is Emperor "DICK" Daley II Control....

As in Hizzonner being a long term resident of the Grey-Cross-Bar Hotel.

I second that motion regarding Meigs Field....Oldest brother used to live in "The Burbs" of Chicago; one of his neighbors was a private pilot that flew out of Meigs...said that was his favorite small airport.

1) When is the last time a .50 caliber rifle has been used by a gang in Chicago? Exactly.
2) It is already illegal for gang members to have guns in the city, if they are caught with them they are arrested. What will new gun laws accomplish besides disarming the lawful citizens that don't use them in crime? Exactly.

Daley is a moron. Go to YouTube and find some video's of the guy speaking. He's an illiterate moron tied to the Mob... that's how he came to power. Chicago loves their Mob boss though. Every month another scandal breaks up here involving Daley and his family yet no one holds him accountable.

"As I've said many times, too many neighborhoods in our city are still terrorized by gang and drug thugs who threaten our families, our children and our quality of life," the mayor said.

Ummm , yeah . Soooo , the best thing to do is disarm those that are not part of the problem?

For those that live there , I feel for you . May the populace come to it's senses and oust the crooks that are stealing your rights .

I don't. This isn't the Soviet Union. People aren't ASSIGNED a workplace and a home. If you live in Apartheid Chicago, and aren't too poor to move, you're there by choice. I've got a cousin there. She's a nice person, but lives in her own little world. _I_ have to tell her whats going on there, especially with the police. She's horrified, but continues to live there. People who live there are so accustomed to corruption and brutality that its effectively invisible to them. They're like Bangladeshis who simply don't realize that there are other places in the world that DON'T flood up to your waist every year.

Deanimator - sorry, but I'm not abandoning my parents until they're safely in the next world. They won't leave this communist hellhole.

At the same time, I vote against idiot policies, so encouraging more people to abandon such efforts to civilize Chicago really makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Oh wait, no it don't.

My mother moved out of Apartheid to one of the suburbs the year before last. If she'd asked me, I'd have preferred that she move to Indiana. Unfortunately, she's still in Cook County.

I have other relatives in Chicago, but when my mother dies, that's the end of my trips to Chicago.

Mayor Richard Daley and other elected officials pointed Tuesday to the fatal shootings at Northern Illinois University and a Tinley Park clothing store as they announced their annual push for gun control legislation in Springfield.

Annual Push??? What is it? Like a bake sale/fund raiser?

Then again, I have to wonder what kind of drugs the editorial staff of the Chicago Tribune are taking where they actually think Daley has any form of cognitive ability beyond "how to rape and pillage the citizens of Chicago with more taxes and government interference."

Who keeps re-electing this fool? And why?

Are the cities handout programs so good that people are afraid they will lose them if Daley was gone?

It's starting to become obvious to me that it's easier to go after the thing you can get vs the thing you can't. It's easy to regulate guns, so they do it. It's hard to go after the criminals and takes time, effort, and money. So they don't. Just pass another law, that will solve the problem.
It reminds me of the old cartoon where the kid is looking for the nickel under the street lamp because it was easier to see, but he lost it across the street where it was dark.:scrutiny:
