Ah but the devil is in the details: who gets to decide who has Rights and who doesn't? Perhaps skin color, religion or gender could be determining factors? Oh, yeah, we may have been there before.
What's your criteria for how Rights should be allocated?
Well, we have prisons. Commit a crime, get locked up, thats an example of losing your rights. However, there is that really stupid thing called "Parole", and it really allows certain criminals back into the streets. Also, we have a law that states a convicted felon cannot possess firearms. It seems like it needs more enforcement behind it to actually make it work.
All of the above are examples of "losing your rights", well, if you commit a crime. However, when the justice system is too liberal in dealing with hardcore criminals, it won't really discourage them. Instead, it creates a breeding ground for more violent criminality.
It seems nowadays, prisoners are having WAY too much of a good time. They are getting food that is much better and nutritious than is what is being fed to our elementary school children. And they have enough spare time to construct shanks and spikes and roughing about with them. How is this PUNISHMENT? Punishing criminals have nothing to do with spending billions of dollars of public monies to house scumbags every year. Punishing them is making them PAY for their crimes.
Many people, even conservatives, are too liberal when it comes to dealing with criminals and punishment. I can go on and on again like I did in many previous threads, but I won't because I ended up being called a "fascist".
