Chicago's new handgun law shows Mayor Daley's contempt for city residents

The Chicago City Council today showed its contempt for the law-abiding citizens of Chicago by unanimously passing Mayor Richard M. Daley's draconian new handgun law.

Just days after the U.S. Supreme Court essentially nullified the city's existing handgun ban by ruling against the city in McDonald v. City of Chicago, Mayor Daley pushed through the city ordinance that rivals even Washington D.C.'s gun law in its requirements, complexity, and disdain for the common citizen.

I can't believe the majority of Chicago citizens don't want the right to be able to own handguns or that they confuse criminals access to handguns with the steps that a law abiding citizen has to take.
