BOTH of those videos indicate that her first shot was a hit. The hostage taker was thrown back, and was falling after the first shot. While he may or may not have been dead, it doesn't appear that he was moving when she administered the final shots.

At the ranges encountered, a .22 long rifle would probably have been just as effective.

I, too, fail to see where this contains any information about widespread use of the Makarov pistol among Chinese Police.

I bet there were SWAT snipers but could not make the shot for reasons we dont know. The hostage taker must have seen the snipers and got agitated causing him to hurt the lady. Most likely this had transpired and the only way was to approach the man with a more friendlier looking face, that of a woman cop as negotiator. All the while she was ready to delivery the coup de grace. Perfect cover ! Nice shot too !

Asians laugh when embarrased, so I would say she was laughing from embarrasment rather than from humour.

Well, at least in China they know how to shoot criminals.

If they are down and not resisting, keep on shooting. Saves so much time and money.
