Chinese Mag won't work in Romanian AK...anyone know why?

Just curious,

I can't get a Chinese 30rd mag in my Romanian AK. All others work fine, but the Chinese mag is definitely a no-go. I haven't heard that Chinese mags were incompatable with the a Romanian AK. Anyone know why?

Also, the Romanian is a WASR-10 GP.

It is not well known but there are apparently 2 different sizes for mags and magwells. My Arsenal can take bulgarian, and chinese, but polish and romanian dont fit at all. I have heard similar stories from other bulgarian owners.

Some of my RPK mags are russian I beleive, so I tenatively put them in the "works" category.

The romanian/polish mags seat but they cant insert far enough in to engage the rear catch. They fall back out eventually. The mags that work seat perfectly and go snick on the first try.

It sucks not being able to use cheap romanian drums.

Hmmmm.

Could this be why my 5-round hunting AK mag won't close and lock in my Romie AK? (not even close).

When I first got my WASR, Romy and E. German mags fit fine, but Chinese and Bulgarians didn't.

I small bit of dremel work, and they all fit now.
