Friend of my dad's called just now with this deal, and that's all I know for now, except that it has a bayonet and sling.

I'll see the rifle tomorrow or the next day. Good deal or not? What do I look for?

I know next to nothing about foreign military rifles.

I just got a sealed case of 1300 rounds and a chinese SKS for the same price. I'd take it and not look back.

Good deal! If there's nothing wrong with the rifle. Might want to take it apart, pull the gas tube off, push that tab behind the trigger guard to remove it from the stock, and look real close to see if it's been eating corrosive ammo.

Well, going rate from what I've seen, for a Chinese SKS in decent shape is $150 on the low end. Going rate for 1000 rounds of 7.62 ammo is $150, again on the low end. Assuming the rifle is shootable, that package should be worth $300 minimum. I'm no expert though.

A friend and I went to a gun show last weekend. He has tax return money and wanted an SKS. I think there were only 5 in the whole place and the lowest price was $189. Again I'm no expert but I'm wondering where they all went. They seemed to be cheap and plentiful a couple years ago.

Dunhams sells the Yugo SKS for $159.00 to $179.00. Some believe the Chinese are better due to chromed bores.

The ammo could easily do for $150.00, and so, yes, I say buy it and don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

:D

At current prices the ammo is worth $150 to $170 so he is asking $75 to $95 for the rifle. Providing the rifle appears to be in good condition and has a decent bore I don't see how you could get to hurt.

Get it and do not look back! The ammo alone is worth probably around $180

Agreed. Possibly more. The cheapest I've seen 7.62x39ammo for lately is $190 for 1k rounds of Wolf FMJ. Even if the rifle wasn't in the best of shape.. for $55 ? That'd be a steal on just a parts gun. This is a ridiculous deal, I'd jump on it fast Larry. As for what to look for, don't worry about it.. at that price grab it up and learn later.

take it that's a deal there bro, and to make it better if you do get it which is the thing to do send me your adress and i will send you all the sks stripperclips that i have, i have 40 of em i think and i have no need for em, i will be more than happy to give them to you. let me know, and let us know too if you get the sks.

Same deal (pretty much) from both of you. Are these from private sales, or does one of the distributors have a smokin' sale going on?

"...Ohhhh...oohh Take the Money and Run..."

Straight to the person offering this deal.

do it. chinese SKSs have grown in popularity in the past year, and this is refelcted in the price. i haunt the used sections of my local stores and have not seen one for under $250 for awhile. if you tried to pick up in a store what's being offered to you now, i'd say you would be sheeling out in the neighbourhood of $400+ DO it:)

That's a very good deal! Grab it! If you don't want it, I'll take it. :neener:

Thanks guys...

I should see the rifle today. Even though my gun funds are limited right now (when aren't they?), I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it. My dad is a fairly well-known antique dealer here, and this seller is known to him, so I don't think he would try to pass off any junk on him.

I'll post pictures tonight if I get it today.

If rifle is OK then it is a fair deal. I'd take two crisp 100 dollar bills and, since he obvisouly wants to get rid of it, see if he won't go for that amount. Never hurts to try.

Jump on that deal Larry , Your basicly getting the rifle for free with what ammo has done lately , and likely to do in the future .
