One of my coworker's husbands had an altercation the other day when one of his childhood best friends tried to kill his other childhood bestfriend. Some about a pacemaker and an ASP to the chest, I tried my best to tune it out.
Anywho, Another coworker who's friends with this guy was gunna drive him out to get his CHL at a range in League City that was offering it for 74$. I was invited to go along as I have a few neat toys to play with and for that distance of a drive it might as well be worthwhile.
The guy backed out today saying he had to bail a nother friend out of jail and now he's broke so he can't go (my coworker and I are still on for Wednesday providing the roads aren't covered in ice as it appears it's gunna be.. It's dropped almost 30 degrees here in the last couple of hours!!)
Anyway, this guy owns a revolver but the CHL class only allows semi-autos. AFAICT this guy is somewhat of a moron as far as everything goes. I've met him a handful of times, he's pretty arrogant and rude, pretty dumb to top that off. His plan was to borrow my coworker's glock and give him his m44 "that his grandfather sniped 4 German generals with in WWII" and had my coworker believing that it was worth well over what his 500 somethin dollar glock is worth. I QUICKLY told him that I seriously doubt it as m44s are typically +/-100.
Ontop of that, he had it sounding like it'd be a "go to the range, mess around while he qualified, then shoot some more, and head home" but most of the courses I've seen are 8 or so hours long right? That's not a get in get out kinda thing..
furthermore, I HIGHLY doubt he's ever shot glock before, maybe not even a semi-auto due to his complete ignorance on the subject. Could be wrong, but revolver vs glock there's a lot of stuff different between the two.
Are there any accuracy/time requirements for CHL qualification? If so, could a guy with exceptionally limited firearms experience likely pull it off with a pistol he's never shot in his life? I kinda figured by the way they made it sound and the popularity of the CHL classes that he'd probably not even have a slot avalible to get into regardless of how long it took or how well he did, I just wanted to shoot at an outdoor range with my part of the tab (and gas!) paid, couldn't care less about that guy getting his CHL. He'd kinda make me nervous if he was armed anyway, guy just aint right in the head.
