So I have all my parts picked out besides a scope, actually I pulled the trigger on pretty much everything else today.

So far my 3 front runners are:
Viper PST Gen II 5-25 FFP
Primary Arms PLx 6-30 FFP
Bushnell Elite Tactical 3.5-21X50 DMR3

My budget is 1000 - 1500 giver or take a few. This will 90% be a range gun, but I want to buy once cry once for the foreseeable future. I'm assuming it will take me a long time to need something in a bigger price range if ever. I don't do any competitions or anyting. Just want to bang steel at distance and do some tight groups. But i have the disposable income to buy something nice right now and I want to. I also need a mount so would love recs there as well.

I put an 18X Nightforce SHV Mil-dot on my AR 10 and have shot it out to 300YD with great results. They run right around a grand new- though I wish I had spent the extra $100 for the illuminated reticle.
I don't know if it was you but saw someone mention that in another thread. I can't seem to find that anywhere. No 18x in the SHV family that I can see.

As someone who dislikes batteries and fancy reticles, and is planning for eye deterioration, I got a Meopta MeoPro 3-9x50 with a #4 reticle and run it in a Rock River Arms cantilever mount.

Huh, well that was a Mandela Effect moment for me.....I had to go look at the box to be sure.
You're right, in this timeline its only a 14X- lol.
This is the one I got-https://www.opticsplanet.com/nightforce-shv-4-14x56-250-moa-30mm-riflescope.html
Its a great scope for the money.
It looks nice, but I think for my small brain I really want FFP. Math is already hard hah. Crazy to me how this rifle costs more than my other two without optic. I still need to buy a nomad-l for it.

There's an FFP version of that scope, my buddy has one and its a nice unit.

My "expensive" scopes have been a Zeiss HD5, and a few of the Meopta HTRs, as well as a Riton X5, all of which retail for right around 1K. Optically I think the NF is at least as good as the Zeiss, tho I dont think it quite equaled the Meoptas and possibly the Riton. All of which Id happily recommend, as I would the NF. My Dad has a Sightron SIII, and thats a fantastic optic for the price, also a scope I can comfortably recommend.
I havent tried any of the optics on your list, but from past experiences with Bushnells Elite hunting scopes, and a Forge, the BET is likely what id go with.....tho again I do really want to try one of the G2 PSTs.

In order to shoot well at longer distances, not only is a good scope important, the ability of the shooter to understand the properties of the scope (and rifle) and apply the properties accordingly (along with good shooting habits) are equally important for the shooter to get the most use out of his equipment. Regarding mounts, I prefer Larue Tactical.

I’m not familiar with the Primary Arms scope, but the other two are very nice scopes that would serve you well.

I fully expect me to be the lowest common denominator for a while, and learn with it. I'm leaning towards the viper I think. I have used one of their LPVOs on my 5.56, and I have a red dot on my Ruger MKIV.

Although it's a relatively unknown company and a newer player, I'd recommend Tract Optics. I own a 4-20 Toric on a .308 AR and am thrilled with it. Because they are direct to consumer rather than going through retailers, their prices are much lower but their features are fantastic. If I could afford to change all of my scopes to Tracts, I would. Also, a big plus for me, no Chinese anything in the scope. It's also right in the middle of your price range.

I'm gonna take a deeper look at those. I like the fact that it was designed in the US and built in Japan and it has a lifetime warranty. It checks my boxes, but I have not heard of them so going to do some research.

This may be a dumb question. But If I keep track of my zero with something like a Larue QD I should be able to swap between rifles and know zero right? I don't really plan to swap this optic around but I'm just curious.
