Choosing between 3 small 45's

Thanks for all the good ideas and info. I do consider the Ruger SR45 on the upper end of what I consider small. But I should add that I looked at many small pistols two years ago, most in 9 mm, and concluded that really small guns are bad in accuracy and in reduction of power. A person gets a 357 magnum for power and then runs it through a 2-inch barrel making it behave with less power than a .38. A 45 through a 3.6-inch barrel is still losing a lot of power as in the EAA Witness Compact on my list. With a 4 inch barrel or longer for a .45, I'd still have to shoot +p loads to get the power I am giving up by trading in my .357 Sig.

I have found a 1911 Commander at my LGS that I will seriously consider though I am concerned about its quality. It is known variously as the ATI FX 45 or the American Classic 45 Commander or the GSG ATI FX 45. Prices run from $470 to $631. The latter model is the fancy stainless version. I would like to get the Ruger 1911 Commander since it has been made with modern engineering advances over the original 1911 design. Perhaps I'll just keep saving and looking for that one.

I have looked at the targets from my shoot with the Glock 30. They don't inspire great confidence. But then that's what practice is for. In many ways the Glock would serve my purposes best. The cons are the cost and the lack of a safety. It is interesting that its cost is about the same as the Ruger 1911.
