I've got a tough choice to make: I have the money set aside for ONE good training course this year, and I've narrowed it down to either...

Massad Ayoob's MAG40 Class

or

Larry Vickers' Intro To Pistol

Some background: I'm a C Class USPSA Production shooter/IDPA SSP Sharpshooter. I've had NRA PPIH/PPOH training and the Front Sight Four Day Handgun class. I practice once a month and shoot competitively to help with reacting to a (God forbid) "real-world" situation.

As I see it, the Larry Vickers class would help me shoot better, the Massad Ayoob class would keep me safer on the street. And no, "both", regrettably, is not an option here. Well, not without a trial separation from my wife, that is. :D

So, which would YOU take, and why? Your thoughts are muchly appreciated, as I'm at an impasse here and could use some 3rd-party input.

Mag 40, hands down, if you have never taken a class that has the same sort of legal component before. It sounds like you already have a way better than average grasp of how to run a gun; may as well compliment those skills with way better than average knowledge of *when*, *where* and *why* to run the gun in contemporary society, IMNSHO.

Mag 40, hands down.

Just one internet opinion, of course.

MAG 40, no doubt. It's considerably harder on the shooting end than MAG20, which was something of a sleeper. MAG 40 will teach you things you don'tknow, I'll stake money on it.

Mas will help you on your way to unconscious competence. Vickers will probably just be reps.

Unconscious competence. That's what I'm looking for.

I am waiting on Mr. Ayoob to offer MAG40 on the east coast, below DC. If he brings it, I will go. :)

Strongly agree with Ayoob first.
