... and yes, I have already done the Wal-Mart walk.

Just an update to this thread:

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=337762

I received my North Carolina CHP Friday 5/16, day 89 after I applied :). I had been carrying my handgun I intend to use as my CCW in my trunk for the days prior to that, expecting it to come in anytime that week being that the department has 90 day to issue a permit from the application date. I picked it up at lunch and when I left work had to run a few places that did not allow concealed carry (a hospital and to eat at a restaurant that served alcohol). However, after this I went to Wal-Mart. :D

I was wearing jeans and a snug polo shirt and was sure the gun was noticeable. It is a Taurus 9mm MilPro carried IWB at 4 o’clock. I kept assuring myself that no one was looking for a gun on me and if they saw a small bulge on my right side they would assume it was a cell phone. After a few strolls around the store and checking for some 9mm Winchester white box ammo, which they were out of I come to two conclusions: no one noticed or even looked for a gun and the gun itself was quite comfortable in my high noon holster.

The next day (yesterday) I did not take it off all day. I went to the barber shop, pawn shop/gun store, Wal-Mart again, as well as a few other errands. I found that the concealability of the gun depends a lot upon the shirt I am wearing when carrying IWB. Just thought I would share these things.

Heh.....

I clicked on this thread thinking it was going to be something about how long you had to wait for the California Highway Patrol to show up following a 911 call you'd made.

Never mind.

:)

Haha... sorry for the confusion. In NC it is called a Concealed Handgun Permit.

I never did the wal-mart walk.

Now I REALLY want to do that with my USP.

I guess that's something to look forward to when I'm back in the states in a few months. :D

Don't forget to study up on when and where its legal to carry and just exactly what NC considers a "justifiable shoot"...

Just a little something that I remind all of the "new guys"...

I've read and re-read the relevant portions of the Texas Concealed Handgun Laws book while I'm waiting for my CHL.

LOL!

Me too!:D

If a particular Wal-Mart sells beer, wouldn't carrying inside be a no-no?

If your state law says its a no-no to carry in an establishment that sells beer...then yes, its a no-no.

But people often confuse the facts on this...do they say establishments that sell beer (beer store), or establishments that serve beer (bar)???

any area prohibited by N.C.G.S. §§ 14-269.3, 14-269.4, 14-277.2, or 120-
32.1. (school grounds, areas where alcohol is sold and consumed, state
property, legislative buildings, and public gatherings, such as parades);

I had to re-read it. And being a computer person I see a clear distinction between sold AND consumed versus sold OR consumed.

;)
