Hi all tried out my chrono today I ordered.I shot 2 of my reloads was kinda suprised by velocity shooting 180 grain Sierra pro hunter 56.3 grains of IMR 4831 Hornady Case CCI BR2 primer 2 shots 1 was 2487 2 was 2482
So I thought od shoot 2 factory rounds to check published velocity
165 grain Hornady sst was 2783 a 150 grain Winchester power point was 2930
So they pretty much matched factory listed velocity,But according to Sierra I should been getting around 2700 fps

Always fun ta use a new Toy

The difference in FPS is probably Barrel Length..

Check what Sierra uses as a length Compared to yours

and have a BLAST!!

As stated above. Barrel length will affect velocity, and your OAL could also play a roll if you are seating longer than the manual states for that recipe. Your main goal is to have FUN with your new toy! A Chrono will bring to light a new side of reloading! Enjoy!

I have two 223 Remington AR-15s. One matches Sierra's Service rifle match data almost to the fps, the other is 200 fps or so faster with the same load.

So, it all depends on what Sierra used and how your rifle works with the loads.
