I replaced my old PACT chronograph after it served me well for 20 or more years. Finally, it just didnt work anymore and I bought a Shooting Chrony Alpha Master unit. I liked the remote display feature to keep on my bench so I could jot down individual velocities in my notebook during load work ups.

It arrived and I did everything I could to get it to work. No matter what I did including switching to 3 different alkaline batteries, it would not register a single shot. It was plain a simple a defective unit. I am shipping it back and the seller is offering a refund due to it being out of stock.

NOW that I have lost faith in this unit and brand, what should I look at now? I paid $129 for the Shooting Chrony, but don't want to go over $200 on a different chrony. I looked at CED M2 and it looks pretty nice.

Any thoughts on the CED M2?

My m2 seems to work pretty well, no complaints really. Artificial lighting makes it throw errors, as does using it at dusk or under a tree canopy. In the daytime out in the open it seems pretty reliable, .223, and various pistol rounds. Put it in a good tripod, mine is on a flimsy one, wind has nearly blown it over. On my list of things to fix.

Go with the Competition Pro. I replaced my Chrony with one and am very satisfied. I also ordered the remote for the unit. Brought the cost up but still under your $200 goal.

Gives you all the information, High, Low, Ave, SD, ES and you have 99 strings of 99 shots you can review.

I have and like my CED M2. It works well. It works better with the infrared lights and the sensors shielded from direct sunlight.

I wish I could tell you how awesome they are, but mine is still for the most part unused....waiting for spring:rolleyes:. It got great reviews by all the owners I could find last year, but most really recommend the I.R. Lighting Kit......so I got one. I've only used this tool enough to verify that it works, (done before the return policy time expired), so I can't really add anything except this:

I was wondering how I could carry it around safely. You can buy their bag, but then I saw this electronic repair box at Harbor Frieght, and it fits both the CED original, and the I.R. Kit too....in one handy box.
