I ran across a used, full sized CD 1911 at the local pawn/gun shop. Gun appears to be in good condition visually and mechanically. About the only problem is someone attempted to put on some ratty looking and well worn Colt grips which could be easily replaced.

Any input on the CD1911 quality wise? Asking price is $390 OTD. Fair price?

Thanks!

Charles Daly 1911...

I have a Chas. Daly 1911 with all the whistles and bells..id est : ambi safety, skeletonized hammer and trigger, extended beavertail, front of slide serrations etc. I paid $360.00 for it at a local gun show. I would not sell it because it is a reliable good-looking and shooting pistol. I also have a Colt Gold Cup that shoots no better than the Daly. In my opinion you did well. I do not know the model number or name of my gun since it is not marked on it.:cuss:

Sarge, you might want to PM a guy on here named 1911Tuner, he seems to know his .45s soup to nuts. Sounds good to me but I'm no expert, barely a novice.

Good luck.

Charles Daly has unfortunately gone out of business. I've been very happy with my EMS (4" stainless) although the extractor broke at about 8000 rounds, same as it did on my Colt :( Just a coincidence, as my oldest RIA is about 15000 rounds and the original extractor is still fine.

They were made by Armscor for Daley and are basically the RIA guns with better finishes and creature comforts.

Price seems high to me, you can get the RIA Tactical (creature comforts match the Daly guns) new with warranty for $420 from Centerfire Systems (and others).
