A couple months back, I rented a Beretta replica SAA at a local range. After my first "Wa-ho!" when I realized that a .45 Colt does wake you up with its recoil, I began to enjoy myself--probably more than was good for me.

So, I looked at the Cimarron Arms Catalog and I see that their various SAA variant replicas are reasonably priced. I am open for any opinions, pro or con, about Cimarron Arms revolvers.

Thanks in advance!

Cimarron imports guns made by Uberti, which is now owned by Beretta.

Uberti's are imported by other companies as well, including themselves.

I think they are great reproductions, much better than anything else out there, if you want an authentic reproduction. The fit, finish, and trigger pulls on these guns are top notch. Many people will recommend Ruger Vaqueros, but the Vaquero is not as nice of a gun, nor is it as accurate a reproduction.

I don't mean to sound blasphemous, but I own 2 Colt SAA's and three Uberti SAA's.... the Uberti's are fit and finished just as well, and have better triggers than the Colt's.

I have 2 of the Cimarron "Model P" SAA's. One is in the charcoal blue and one in a more modern bluing.
Both of these are in the 5 1/2" barrel model, and I have on order one in modern blue in 7 1/2 "

Cimarron does import from Uberti, but they rebuild/refinish/spit and polish the guns rather than
just import them.

They have both been 100% reliable, accurate, and fun!

I have found Cimarron to be top notch in blackpowder as well using Uberti imported pieces.

Word of caution with the charcoal bluing Cimarron uses. It is authentic, using charcoal and bone. If you actually shoot the firearm, it WILL begin to show rust and other stains. If you want a shooter, get the modern blue.

The charcoal is simply beautiful though, I have no regrets having it, it just has a couple of spots here and there. That is just how that process worked, and why it's no longer used. :D

It's too pretty to actually shoot, but it's too pretty to just sit there, so guess which I decided to do!

BIG 10-4 on the US Firearms comment. I just got one in .38 Spl and it satisfies me right down to the core. Not sure what the new Colts are like, but this USFA gun is every bit as nice as the 2nd Gen Colts I have. If you can scrape together the dough, it's probably the best there is.
