Seems Gov. Haley and the Citadel have institutionalized car carry. Don't know how to set up a link from my phone but it sounds as though 1100 Cadets petitioned to at least allow them to store their personal weapons in their cars.
Good for them.

At least thieves will know where to steal them from. Its a military college. Least they could do is allow them to check them in and out of an already existing armory.

Yep blood will run in the streets

I don't understand what's in the air on college campuses.

Most students can legally carry off-campus, and there are never any problems. But as soon as they cross onto campus they become deranged, trigger-happy, blood-thirsty monsters.

Yep, same thing as my local elementary school. I run by it armed, on the city sidewalk, every single day, but if I take one ill advised step onto the schools consecrated grass, I've committed a felony.

Try that one day when you're not armed, and let us know what it does to you. Do you become enraged on school property, hear a roaring in your ears, and see everything through a red mist?

Its a military academy with a high standard of discipline and conduct. The cadets receive military training. Probably the safest place in SC, least likelihood of incidents, dry campus. People don't attend The Citadel to party and act the fool.

It sure has a high standard that's for sure. Not so sure about the partying there though. My dad went to The Citadel on a scholarship during the Depression, and graduated Class of 1934. He returned later to serve a couple of years as instructor and Assistant Commandant. He told a few pretty wild stories of legendary parties and pranks the cadets pulled when he was there. I guess things don't really change too much.

Today I was about to strap on my NAA mini revolver but remembered "I'm going to the post office" so had to leave it behind. :fire:

The Citadel is not a military or service academy. The Citadel and Virginia Military Institute are state-run military colleges. There are five service academies: Military Academy (West Point), Naval Academy (Annapolis), Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.

They're not operated by the DOD but you'd probably be disappointed if you thought going to either would be like attending a typical State College. Don't know how secure their grounds are but I doubt it has the same as that of a SA. IMO it will be an interesting experiment, looking forward to see how it works.

Having attended another military school, he is correct. There is a time for business and seriousness. And there is a time for legendary, wild times of binge drinking. In any case.

Often, military school armories are staffed by students with little administrative oversight. Since most weapons in academic armories are demilitarized surplus rifles and dull ceremonial swords, there is little need for real firearms training. I would not want my firearms guarded or safe guarded by people working in military school armories. I would rather have it in my car or hidden on campus in violation of gun policy.

Yes. Strange thing. Is there a cure, Major?! :D
