The only good thing about Klinton being elected was that Bush 41 was not re-elected.

The other good thing about Clinton being elected was the assault weapon ban. Before anyone's head pops like an over-ripe carbunkle, think about this a moment. The AWB, which was idiotic to the point of being retarded and an incredible insult to law-abiding gun owners to boot, energized the RKBA movement. Prior to the AWB only a handful of states were shall issue. Now the majority of states are shall issue. Prior to the AWB the choice for quality ARs was extremely limited. By attempting to ban an entire class of rifle, the AWB energized the market for that class of rifle and now the AR market is virtually limitless. Prior to the AWB there were very few practical choices for subcompact concealable autoloaders. Today every manufacturer that wants to earn a profit has a quality subcompact on the market.

The AWB was a blessing in disguise because it showed us the true colors of the gun control crowd. Say what they will, ultimately it gets down to the fact that they will not stop until all guns are confiscated. Any gun-control advocate who says othewise is mendacious, to say the least. Now we all know this, and we have an energized movement that will mobilize to fight any gun-control legislation, which is why we have not had any substantial gun-control legislation after the AWB, and why the gun-control advocates were unable to renew the AWB.

Now if we can just do something about the Bush 41 importation ban, and while we're at it, legalize FA firearms, because I would certainly like three-round burst capability on my AR.
