Yep. It was more about some paper pusher with rank sitting behind a desk having everyone dress right dress instead of us having reliable mags in a combat zone.TACOM did an about face last year and reversed the PMAG "ban". I got into a lovely "discussion" with a SGM last December who insisted the mags were banned until I showed him he was wrong.
Fun fact - The PMAGS I sent with my buds to Afghaniland were the only mags they didn't have issues with. Ended up having to secure a case of them to send them when they got in country due to supply issues.
It was a ridiculous policy that directly affected our capabilities outside the wire for a short period of time.
Unfortunately...where I was at in Wardak, we had a roving SGM that would harass patrols like ours about this nonsense. When we conducted all our checks before heading outside the wire, this became one of them until the policy was pulled.You guys actually stopped using them? We just told anyone who mentioned it to go ---- themselves or leave the wire and do our job.
