Looking to get my first press, and after reading reviews I think I have narrowed it down between the new Lee or the RCBS. Was going to get the rcbs kit before reading all the good press on the Lee. Would I be better served by buying the Supreme Kit, or going with the Lee and setting up piecemeal? This may be a stupid question but... These presses will reaload pistol ammo as well as rifle, Right? Any help would be much appreciated.

I replaced my challenger with a classic cast a couple week back. Does a wonderful job on my rifle and pistol cartridges. Never touched an RCBS press so I cant' tell you about that one. I do like that CC press though!

I haven't come across a reloading chore that my Rockchucker won't do. I've had it 25 years and it looks like it will last several lifetimes. Yes, it does pistol and rifle. A little slowly perhaps, but I'm not in a hurry.

If you can afford it, spend the extra for the Rockchucker.

All I can say is the Rockchucker has become the benchmark by which all other single stage presses are measured. There are better, there are equals, and there are a lot that will never be in the same class. My opinion.

The other advantage of the Rockchucker, and all RCBS equipment, is their superb customer service. I have called several times in the past for maintenance parts and have always received them in 2 or three days, no charge.

An alternative, slightly less $, that I will recommend is the Lyman Orange Crusher. It is a very fine press that I would not be afraid to buy if my bench was not already overcrowded and cramped.

Take Care

I have had both. Personally, I don't see any reason to pay extra for the Rockchucker when they are made of the same material and the Lee is slightly less than half the cost. Additionally, I like the spent primer catcher on the Lee better because once deprimed, there is nothing to empty and they are out of your way for good.

Both are like quality presses made of cast iron. Given that, I just don't see paying over twice as much for one of them.
