Have noticed looking at classifieds threads, that almost all of the semi auto handguns, and even some of the revolvers are listed at $500-600. Maybe right now the current costs of them may be those prices new. But what would benefit an individual buying online, paying for shipping and then paying transfer fees for a USED handgun, that goes for almost that much new? I can maybe understand accessories going with the gun, but I've found that unless there's something really special about them, I really am not interested in them. What say you?

Wait a few months. Things are just getting started.

Some are investing in guns for short term and will sell at triple or more what they paid for it. And people will make it happen.

If, for any reason a subset of any weapons anywhere in the USA even gets a hint of a possible ban, prices double overnight.

Compared with some of the asking prices I've seen in the local shops for used firearms of late, the items on line are often a genuine bargain.

For example, I saw a fairly beat-up Interarms PPK/S the other day with an asking price on it of $599. I asked the dealer if he was intending to retire after the sale. He smiled, but darned if he didn't sell if for that price two days later. The gun was worth somewhere in the $375 range, in my estimation ... but more power to ya if you can pull of that kind of sale consistently, I guess. It was too rich for my blood, and you can find a lot better deals on the classified sections of the gun boards.

Well, yeah, I could see semi auto rifles and maybe hi cap mags for semi auto handguns. But....
So this is still part of the frenzy, heh. I saw some great deals on lever actions and some milsurps, and one SW model 36 that, damn, went fast.

Barring any antigun legislation, this sounds like the makings of a classic market bubble a la housing in 2006 or tulips in the 1600s. If there is that much purchasing to resell later, prices will drop.

Some segments of gun prices might come down a little but I do not forsee the bubble bursting as it did in the housing market if history holds true. Especially in this nervous political atmosphere the country is in at present. A lot of people think they may need them; and not just as investments.

The housing market and firearms are apples and oranges.
