Just a reminder.

I was working in the bush last week and had my Chief's Special in a pocket holster. Tonight, while pulling the revolver from the holster and doing a routine cylinder check, a handful of leaves, seeds, acorns, pebbles and berries fell onto the bedspread.

No telling how this detritus may have jammed or ignited had I need to use the weapon. I should have known, as every pocket and body crevice was full of the same rubbish at the end of the field day.

Just a reminder to check the carry piece.

LOL just sounds hilarious. Sorry no offense.
My holster is Kydex so everything slides right out.. but then again its IWB so nothing really gets a chance to get in there.

Thats what I thought, it had been a while 6 or so months, I hadn't fired it. Thought I should wipe it down and oil it, I mean after all it is just my my IWB holster. That thing was full of lint. I now take it down clean and oil monthly fired or not.

I try to get a range trip in while my CC is "dirty" from a few week's carry.
No issues yet, and apparently I can routinely pack for 3 weeks and not affect function, which is good to know.

...I must be the only person who daily cleans the holster and all lint from the firearms. Of course, many of my guns are carried in my pockets, so it's only natural to take them out and clean them off at the end of the day. :)

I'm notorious for throwing a mag in a cargo-pants pocket. I've sometimes wondered if lint would hinder function.

bensdad, it could affect feeding, particularly if any oil or moisture got into the lint.
I always figured that if I need a reload, I REALLY need it to work, because either the mag in the CC pistol failed, or it wasn't enough.
Thus, I'm pretty anal about keeping crud out of magazines, much like the reason I CC, it is with thought to the stakes, not the probabilities.

Maybe you have a carry squirrel in the house, Making a nice bed for himself.

As a side note, for those with autos, the washing machine does a great job of cleaning both bullets and mags, but you do have to disassemble the mag to make sure that it's dry and relube it. Needless to say my wife wasn't impressed............

Haven't had leaves or squirrel nest in my holster, but I have chased a dust bunny to two in the barrel.

Haven't had a squirrel nest in holster but did find a mouse nest in my cleaning kit tool box. Just curious did the ammo survive the ride in the washing machine. I know that 22's fall apart in the wash... Now my laundry takes a ride solo.

Is there a water contamination concern with ammo that doesn't have sealant on it?
My biggest issue has been pocket lint. an air compressor does a pretty good job at blowing it out.

Its a .32

And the ammo was S&B FMj so it has the red lacquer on primer and and sealing the bullet, it was only two round that popped off the mag I had in my cargo pocket, as for the bullets, haven't got to the range to try them, but I expect that they will go boom. And yes that go me a cussing, and I thought my wife got mad at forgetting change in my pocket. The mag happened a different time and stayed in the pocket so no complaints from the wife as she doesn't know.
