i use ground walnut with new finish polish and strips of dryer sheets to keep the dust down in my vibrator cleaner and it works great to just clean up dirty cases BUT what can you just to clean up Black weather stained brass?? ive run it for days in the vibrator and never comes clean, anything out there that works to bring back the shine??

Weathered brass is still good enough to load after tumbling. When I bought brass a few pieces out of 10k would be weathered. I just sorted them out for later use.

I've cleaned weathered radio transmission (pure copper) line ends with dilute muriatic acid. Dip in solution for maybe 20 - 30 seconds, then into a saturated solution of water/baking soda and then rinse in water.
Disclaimer: I've never tried it with brass casings and have no idea if it does bad things to brass. You're on your own with this one.

Even if its weathered as long as it is clean it will work fine. I do nothing to my "weathered" brass besides load and shoot it.

I saw an article in a gun mag a few weeks ago. One of those ultrasonic cleaners will clean them up. Harbor freight has one for 30 bucks. Add some hornady solution and you're golden. I have some brown brass too. I might try that myself. For 30 bucks I get a new cool gadget. Hmmmmmm

Saw that article too, "Guns and Ammo" recent issue within the last month or two. Ultrasonic cleaner, the writer was ga ga over it.

Yup. That's the article. But he was looking at a $500 hornady huge hopper thing. For huges batches that would be nice. Or for cleaning guns etc. but for an occasional use the hf one looks cool. Half the reviews for the one at hf are for brass and guns!

I had a sonic cleaner for a couple days. They seemed to work alright for cleaning the insides but the outsides of my cases were not as shiny as I had grown accustomed to in my tumbler. I read that a thumler's tumbler with stainless media could make even the worst of old cases look like new.

Or, you could consider what I said in post #7.
The weather has leached the zinc out of the cartridge brass, and it's not as strong as it could be, or once was.
But do what you gotta do to save a few cents by only spending $500 bucks.

I will quote it since this is the correct answer. Well almost since it's spelled Zinc
You have to be careful using brass that's been outside for to long. I have a small window to pick up brass before it's to far gone for me to use.
