Cleaning dead skin out of p365xl grip?

So last fall I went and decided to finally get my CCW due to rising crime in the city I live in, and I decided on a p365xl for my edc. I like the aggressive grip texturing but today I noticed an issue. It’s been particularly hot recent and I carry iwb and the side of the grip that presses against my skin has started to get full of dead skin gunk all up in the texturing.

What is the best way to clean this out? It’s kinda starting to look gross.

Pink lotion hand soap and a stiff toothbrush should get it. The soap is really good stuff. I have been using it for hand soap for at least 35 years as it doesn't stir up my excema which commercial handcleaners do. I use it to clean shoes and a lot of other things. I buy it in a gallon jug and refill a dispenser with it. It amazes me how easily it removes even nasty grease from my hands. It can be found on Amazon but I usually get it at our one janatorial supply store. There is the option of a wire brush but I wouldn't use one on plastic.

Dawn powerwash warm water and a toothbrush.
Heh, Dawn works on everything, and the "Powerwash" bottles are good on a lot more than pots and pans!

Also, unless you're gonna put a barrier between the grip of your pistol and bare skin (that's what wife-beater tank tees are for), maybe apply a little Gold Bond lotion to the love handles (works for me).

I do wear an undershirt in the winter but with it being summer an all I am wearing loose clothing that wouldn’t really work with an undershirt. But it ultimately depends on the outfit and the grip rubbing on my side doesn’t bother me anymore although it did when I first started carrying.

Hogue recommends WD40 to clean their monogrips. It works quite well. Should work on any rubber or polymer grip.

A proper holster with a sweat guard and the wife beater is going to be your best solution here, and I think youll find both you and the gun will be a lot happier.

As far as cleaning the grip, Ive always found a still fingernail brush and an air can seem to work well. I stipple most of my plastic grips and they are a lot more aggressive at exfoliating my hands than the factory textures and tend to load up pretty quick. If you address it every time you clean, its basically a nonissue.

What in the world is the grip doing to your skin ....
Sounds like it's taking off the top layer of skin ...
Doesn't this hurt ... isn't it rubbing you raw ... you need a IWB holster that has a flap of leather / material that keeps grip from doing a "Cheese Grater Thing" to your skin ... or am I over thinking this ?

Yeah you are overthinking this. It really isn’t a big deal at all you shed dead skin all the time that’s what most of the dust in your house is made from.

Difference here is they are just ending up on the grip of the gun and I can’t just wipe them off due to the aggressive grip texture.

It’s really that simple ultimately just a nasty mixture of dead skin cells and sweat getting packed into the grip of the gun.

Isa that the same Pink lotion we used for poison ivy?

Not having ever lived where there is poison ivy I have no idea. That is one of nature's irritants that I have been spared.
No they are talking about calamine lotion for poison ivy, not the same thing as the pink lotion soap you are refer too.

If you don't want to deal with normal soap and water (potential rust issue if it gets in the action) I just use Hoppe's Elite gun cleaner and a nylon gun brush. I do this a lot with the aggressive grip texture on my S&W M&P M2.0.

You are a lot tougher / thicker skinned than I am ... at least around my middle ...
I'm quite soft and tender ... I would need some hide protection .

What's a Wife Beater ?

Wife beater tee shirt. :)

Another vote for compressed air and a dry toothbrush. A buddy plumbed air into his shop, and I stole the idea; it really is handy for all kinds of things, including delinting guns between cleanings.

Notice that all of the recommendations are "AND a toothbrush!"

I haven't had the dead skin on the grip problem. But the P365 and P365XL grip modules pick up EVERYTHING that is on my bench. I was using paraffin wax for something and got some paraffin wax flakes on the grip. I think that I used 99.9% isopropyl alcohol AND a toothbrush to get it off.
