Cleaning dies

You guys are crazy. My dies are pretty clean. I don't do lead, though, and all my cases are cleaned first. Never had any problem.

I occasionally tear them down and put them in the ultrasonic for 15 minutes. They come out surgically clean!

Bovice, I thought that, too, until I took them apart and noticed the build up of brass and copper shavings, dust, case lube, etc. If you were to take them apart you will see what I mean.

Yep. I cleaned out my 9Mm expander die a couple of days ago. Plenty of brass "dust" in there. The plug was real clean, but the dies inner walls had buildup.

I'd probably blast it with some gun scrubber a brass bristle brush and then lightly CLP. I've put stuff in the tumbler with threads and it's not a good idea.
