Yes, it is never a bad thing to do.

I wear glasses for everything...from shooting to driving to reading to being able to see straight to falling asleep in front of the TV

Good idea. Not only to prevent orbital objects from striking the MK I eyeball but also prevent the introduction of chemical substances (cleaning fluids, oil, etc.).

Ever since I shot Powder Blast (?), a citrus based, high pressure cleaner into my eyes, I wear some goggles when I spray my guns. It stung like a son of a gun and seriously wondered if I had really messed up my eyes. A good flushing with water and switching from contacts to glasses that evening squared me away. I rinsed my contacts really good and wore them the next day.
