Greetings,

I've just gotten a consignment of some 1000 50 BMG brass (lake city) to sell on consignment, and I'd like to pretty them up a bit first.

Would a small concrete mixer and stainless steel media be a good option?

Thanks in advance,

I have a friend that uses a cement mixer and walnut shells, so I would think SS pins would work. Not sure what its going to cost you for all the pins, might be cheaper going to wal Mart and picking up some lizard litter.

Enough SS pins to clean more than a few .50 cases will set you back a bit. I'd just use corn cob and Nu Finish polish and be done with it.

Just FYI, many people do not buy polished brass since it's very easy to hide problems by polishing. I'd just tumble a short time, enough to remove the carbon, and quit. I personally like to see the neck annealing on military brass so I can be sure it's 1X fired. The primer crimp usually tells that, but even so I still like clean but unpolished brass.

I use Iosso on my .50 brass, I then use the oven set on low to dry them or put them in the dishwasher and use just the heat/dry cycle. I posted a pic here once of all the pins in my dishwasher covered with
50 brass. Either one will work and won't harm the brass.

One other thing, don't let the wife catch you!

Most reloaders who buy once fired brass do not want the primers removed before they buy, especially in a 50 BMG case. If you want to clean them up a bit I suggest you load that mixer with crushed walnut shells from the pet shop. That will save you a boatload of cash since you won't be cleaning the primer holes anyway.
