Strambo, Oregon has chosen not to recognize any out of state CC permits...effectively disarming non-residents when we're in their state. I respond by not going there. Any thoughts about taking this course to any states that are more free?
That is certainly a possibility. If someone within 1 days driving range (UT is probably doable, I almost made it home from Cortez, CO in a day once) arranged a location and got 8 people to sign up, I could travel with all the gear. The safety and role player duties during the drills would need to be taken turns by the participants, no way could I pay for employee wages and travel expenses and have the math work out at any reasonable tuition cost.

How does simunitions work? My pistol is a PPQ
There are conversion kits (barrel minimum, slide and barrel for some models) that convert the firearm to shoot the Simunition FX rounds (and live rounds won't work). The cartridge is basically a primer powered plastic 7.62mm plastic pellet with a colored non-toxic soap. The conversion barrels don't lock the action, so it becomes a blow-back which is how it can cycle with so little power.

There is no PPQ kit, they do have a P99 kit. Students will use my converted guns (a G19 and 2x 17s) It would be impossible to ever have conversions for the myriad carry guns students would bring. (Or possible with any other simulation system either) They can also use a P226 or 225 if they want, those are my role player guns, but I can give the RP a Glock instead. They can also use a .38/.357 revolver, the conversion for those is just metal rings in the chambers so live rounds can't chamber.

Another safety feature, see the chamber cut out? If you somehow managed to get a live round to chamber (banged on the slide until the cartridge deformed enough I guess) and it fired...the .355 bullet can't fit down the .30 bore and all the pressure will blow out the hole in the chamber.

If you come to Utah, I will attend. Now, we just need seven more students, a place and a date.

Do you have a 1911 simunition kit?

My wife said she'd attend as well. That's two students. Now, we need six.

My wife is a raw beginner

Are Sims sold to civilians?

Not really... Mil and LE agencies can order them from the LE suppliers. An individual officer might get the supplier to sell to them as well. Only in the last few years has Simunition developed a civilian range program and certification. So, technically a Simunition certified civilian could get it as well. I went to the course on my military credentials (only non-LE there and only one there on my own dime).

It is available on Gunbroker for crazy prices, $1 per round, Glock 17Ts going for $700 in used condition etc.

Airsoft makes way more sense for any civilian and light FoF instruction use. Simunition is an expensive hassle all the way around to include the gear, liability insurance, the rounds are .56 per etc.

This is a passion for me to bring this to the civilian side because of how important I think FoF training is...from a business standpoint the "market" doesn't know what it is or care so I'm fighting an uphill battle.

Mist-they do make a 1911 kit (I won't ever have one)...it is so expensive that my pricing sheet just says "call for availability and pricing" I think it is between $800-$1k!
