today is my last day of spring turkey season, no shots, i could have shot a jake yesterday(not againest it) but left him go as he made it this far, so this fall he will be bigger. i went in this morning at 5:10 am to sit for a while and take my last blind down, no globbles or turkeys sighted but plenty of deer. eastbank.

0107171348.jpg This was taken a few months back, but my yard typically looks like this. 8-12 just wandering about. I've never hunted turkey but I bet if I start, I'll wait all day and never spot another one.

^ thats the truth, before bird season you cant get them to cross the road fast enough, day of they vanish into places u cant get them.....

I got one small jake this year, bout midway thru bird season. Didnt hunt them, but also didnt see any shootables while doing other stuff during spring turkey, which is in march for us.

Only hunted a couple of days this year, but had a chance. Missed a good bird that caught me and ran. He was straight down the barrel until I pulled the trigger. Then turned and exited stage left. Never touched a feather. Had another bird flush and come across in front of me at about 30-35 yards. Looked like a high house 5 shot but I passed because of the cows in the background. Can't afford a registered Charolais. Then had jakes in my face a couple of times. Illegal here.

Years ago it was an obsession and I thought that I had to kill a bird. One year back in the 90's I hunted 21 out of 28 days in two states. That is about as close to divorce that you can get. Now it is just a reason to get out and enjoy the woods
