Well I bought some ammo yesterday; one 550rd brick of the Remington cheap stuff and one 100rd box of CCI Minimag, which I understand is higher quality (costs over twice as much... it should be) and has run better in my very limited experience with 10/22's. I'm hoping to take the kit to the range this Saturday and try it with both kinds of ammo and see what happens.

I did hand-cycle some rounds through the kit while pointed in a safe direction. On about 1/4 of them I got good positive extraction and vigorous ejection; on the rest, the case only got pulled about halfway out of the chamber and I had to tip the muzzle up to get it out with gravity. Above someone stated that there is no extractor and therefore no mechanical extraction. Mine definitely has something that looks like an extractor, and works like an extractor some of the time, so now I'm totally confused as to whether it is supposed to be extracting.

Someone else above noted that they were able to get it to extract consistently by touching it with a Dremel. I can see where I'm guessing they would Dremel to allow slightly more inroad for the extractor to reach the case rim. I've never taken a Dremel to a gun in my life, but can't rule out doing it a few hundred rounds down the road in this case. :scrutiny: Why don't they just cut the extractor channel deeper to start with?

This is "blowback operated", meaning it does not lock up, and rearward pressure on the case from firing is what drives the bolt back, correct? Therefore it is chamber pressure, and not pull from the extractor that ultimately removes the case from the chamber during firing?
