I recently (about 3 weeks ago) sent in my Garand paperwork to CMP. I've contacted them to see if they've received it, and their response was that they will send me an e-mail when they get to my paperwork.

What's been the wait time recently? I got a field grade. I'm expecting 30+ days, but some type of confirmation that the paperwork was received would be nice, considering the information said paperwork contains.

The turn-around on rifles has been about 6-9 weeks lately... don't know about confirmation of paperwork.

I sent my paperwork mid march and recieved my garand end of april. only notice was one day an e-mail said your item is on the way and it was here the next day. wish i had ordered a few more. seems the service grades a in short supply. still waiting on some loose ammo that is on b/o.

edit the ammo was not on the same order

Sent my paperwork in November 2. I ended up putting a tracking number on the envelope see when it got (around November 10 from AK). Haven't seen an email about shipping yet. Can't wait till it ships. Maybe before Christmas...

I got mine about this time last year. Was 21 days from dropping my application in the mail until the rifle and ammo hit my doorstep.
Sorry, just had too.:D

Here is my experience with my first CMP Garand order:

It will be interesting if the service grades do come back as the boys on the CMP forum think. I ordered two service grades early last summer and and a sg special in Sept. There wasn't much difference in the sg's and the sg special other than the new wood on the sg special. I wish I lived closer to the stores.

Deadeye, good luck on the ammo.

Well, I got the order received e-mail and went to the e-store to login and it said order has been processed, shipment within 7-14 days! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the noobies just now ordering M1 rifles or anything from the CMP,,,
I ordered my first M1 from the DCM way back in 1982.
If I remember correctly, the cost was $160 + $10 shipping & took 10 1/2 months to receive.

What I got was a 4.2 million Springfield.
I still own the rifle.:)

I ordered my DCM in the late 80's and the price was $167.00 delivered. Seemed I almost forgot I ordered it when it arrived some ungodly time later. I got a correct post war SA which was converted to a 308 match M-1. I still have the rifle.

FYI, CMP has been jammed up for the last month or so with the shipping of '03s and '03A3s. I am sure ship times are getting back to normal, but it may push the long side of e-store information.

Maybe they are catching up.

Congrats with your new M1.

Badkharma...I got that email last thursday (15DEC) and today I received the email saying it'll be here tomorrow afternoon.

bigdogpete, loaded 18 en-blocks with my 200 loose ammo. Most is HXP 66 or 77 headstamps with a few years in between. Have come across 6 so far that are marked C 5 4 V. Will give me something to do to find out manufacture.

edit: CV 45 is Canadian production.

Sounds like you did well. 2 of my last 3 cans of clipped was HXP 77 and it shoots very well.
The trouble is with 200 rounds is it goes to darn fast. Save your brass.

Got the shipping e-mail yesterday. I'm sitting here eagerly awaiting the FedEx truck for delivery today. :D

Notice of order received to delivery = 3 days. Not too shabby!!!

HIOOOOOOO

so the garand just arrived!!! I'm so excited. The internals look amazing! Super clean, no pitting whatsoever.

I tracked the serial #, and it is a 3,3xx,xxx made in early Dec 1944 according to the sources I found.

How can I track where it was assigned and who used it? There is also a small stamp on the stock, it's an eagle with 3 stars. Not sure what that means. I'll try upload some pics in a sec...

Please dig up the thread, can't remember if it was here or over on TFL, that talks about Field Grades being "no good"!!:)

Sounds like you got an excellent shooter kharma. Congratulations, I think you'll find it shoots quite wonderfully as one of mine is a field grade as well and it shoots extremely well.

If you find out how to track who it was assigned to (I don't think you can) please post back as there would be a lot of people interested in that information.

Yes, agreed! haha - well I have 3 buddies that all got Field grades and theirs were awesome. Sure the stocks are dinged up some, but that's what I wanted. They all shoot excellent groupings and perform flawlessly. You can't go wrong for $495...
