cmp m1 carbine

I want to build a good shooting m1 carbine, doens't have to be matching parts or anything. (shhhhh, it's going to dot scoped and folding stock, but don't hate on me, I have an all original rockola that I am not going to change) I have a new barrel, and can get most all the parts I need from various websites, but the receiver is a problem. I can't really find one.

the cmp will sell me a worn out barreled receiver for 150+, or a worn out complete rifle for 450 or so. is that the best I can do? or is there some magical place that has low cost ww2 surplus parts readily available?

Generally CMP stuff is actually pretty decent. Doesn't always look pretty, but they are typically good shooters.

CMP sells really decent stuff. Sometimes it is bet up but I still shoots good. My service grade Garand looks great.

For what you're doing, I fail to see how the reciever-only from the CMP is a bad deal.
