I couldn't find this posted anywhere.

Colorado law allows concealed, loaded handguns in vehicles, as an extension of your home. Now a Denver politician has decided to change that, in the interest of "public safety".

"Proposal seeks to limit loaded guns in cars, cut drive-by shootings"

DENVER - A Denver lawmaker is hoping to limit the number of loaded guns in cars with a bill that would allow major cities to require anyone with a loaded firearm in the passenger compartment of a vehicle to have a concealed weapons permit.

Rep. Joel Judd, D-Denver, said he’s tired of road rage and drive-by shootings.

‘‘I’ve had a lot of people shot in my district, and I’m tired of the blood in the streets,’’ Judd said.

Entire article here.

We need to call, email and snail mail this guy.

Good for him

He has the right idea by cracky!

After all, look how well banning handguns in the car (or anywhere else for that matter) has worked at eliminating drive by shootings here in Chicago!

I'm sure the Colorado gang bangers are probably much more law abiding than ours are though.

What does a Colorado gangbanger look like?

yup...

...more Denver_Drivel...
BTW, thanks Larry...Those guys are in need of constant supervision...Home-Rule, indeed...of course if this guy gets his way, it'll create a gazillion criminals with the stroke of a pen...
Denver remains the main crossroad in Colorado...
N-S = I-25
E-W = I-70

...that's a LOT of criminal traffic...

It would make anyone with a loaded firearm in a vehicle, without a Colorado Permit, a criminal?
...:scrutiny:

Here's the link to the bill.

Much like the bill that was sponsored by Morse in Fountain, it's an incremental move in the anti-gun direction. This is how the anti-gun bigots have perpetrated their agenda for the last several decades. Not with cries for confiscation, but by pushing a little bit here, and a little bit there.

Fire up those fax machines and email programs, folks.

Honestly, how common are drive-by shootings... really, I think these are a thing mainly confined to hip-hop lore, urban legend, and movies.

Wait, wait, wait, you mean to tell me these criminals are breaking laws against murder and felonious assault w/ deadly weapons?

Well then, the OBVIOUS answer is to enact yet another law that the criminals will ignore and that will hassle, endanger, and trample over the rights of the citizens!:cuss:

The key is to keep the convicted animals in jail, period . . .

So many new laws are just designed to serve as "window dressing" for politicians to be able to say they've done something to stop a problem . . . when the REAL problem is allowed to continue.

THERE OUGHT TO BE A NEW LAW THAT MAKES IT ILLEGAL TO TURN AN HISTORICALLY HONEST MAN INTO A CRIMINAL IN ORDER TO ADDRESS THE SINS OF OTHERS!

My email to Mr. Judd:
Mr. Judd

I see you have introduced a bill which you hope will reduce drive by shootings in Colorado, by disarming law abiding citizens. Why not outlaw drive by shootings instead?

And "blood in the streets"? Seems Denver's homicides are dropping:

2004 - 91 homicides
2005 - 61 homicides
2006 - 55 homicides

per http://www.denvergov.org/Portals/337/documents/2006Analysis.pdf

And "road rage shootings"? Please cite the last time a last one you heard of one in Colorado. I honestly can't remember.

What, exactly, are you trying to do with this legislation? Perhaps an end run around state firearms laws?

Your voters are waiting for an answer (more of them than you know).

Respectfully (but watching),

‘‘I’ve had a lot of people shot in my district, and I’m tired of the blood in the streets,’’ Judd said.

Wahhhhhhh.

So lets go after the toolbox of the criminal insted of the criminal. Let us know how that works out for ya. Are all politicians morons or do the liberals really believe this crap. Forget that, I know the answer.
