The Pennsylvania State Police were involved in the shooting of 12-year old boy over the Xmas holiday. Their Nixonian wall of silence around this is rather troubling.
Welcome to the Blue Wall of Silence.......and is it just me, or does it bother anyone that they 'refused to release their policy governing the use of force'. I'd think the people (technically, the boss) have a right to know under what circumstances police officers are justified in the use of deadly force.
I should probably be shot for this, but it's the first thing that hit me when reading the article:
State police have said Ellerbe was driving a stolen sport utility vehicle, which he crashed into a house and tree before jumping out and running. Troopers Juan Curry, an eight-year veteran, and Samuel Nassan, on the job for less than a year, chased Ellerbe on foot.
I'm not concerned about a 'blue wall of silence', at least, not yet. I'd rather see them take the time to do a proper investigation and announce their findings.
Still...I would expect to hear a statement soon. Do they think it'll just go away if they ignore it long enough?
