I got my stamp out of nfa jail, only to find a world I do not want to shoot 9mm in at the moment due to shortages and tin foil hat wearing people. I can get all the 22 I want but i can't seem to find a conversion kit for 22 anywhere that is still in production.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

From what I can tell lage is no longer producing the 22 units.

I have a lage slow fire upper of some kind, it works and makes the ammo consumption more enjoyable.

My m11 came with a variety of accessories and recon ordnance 50 round mags were included, my only critique of them is the last round will not let bolt pick up.

The Lage 22 upper can be found every now and then for sale on Uzitalk.com, although you have to jump as soon as you see it as they go fast if the price is right. There are two on Gunbroker now...

I saw both items as well, the lack of magazines worries me. Why own a machinegun if you only have one 40 rd mag

Blackdog made the magazines, might be worth the email to them. I've seen them come up for sale on Uzitalk as mentioned. I have no idea why Lage stopped making them, they sold like hot cakes, like 1kperday...mine runs 100% with the Golden bullets, I've shot it more the 9mm upper I have and the cost is not the reason, it's just way more fun to shoot.

Lage is top notch in quality and customer service. He announced about a year ago that he was taking orders for his "last" run of M11-22 kits. I don't recall a specific reason given, but assume it was so that he could focus more upon his new AR type uppers and traditional uppers for the MAC variants. I suppose the common complaints about reliability of the .22 conversion kits also played a role in it. I had one M11-22 kit and bought a second one when he announced the discontinuation.

Unfortunately, I sold my original conversion kit in May for a little under list price. Those kits are now going for 2-3x list price.

If cleaned properly, recommended ammo is used (Remington Golden Bullets or similar) and care is taken when loading the magazines to avoid rim-lock they are fairly reliable and economical (in normal ammo price times, that is).

As with all things machine gun related, when something is available (magazines, uppers, stocks conversion kits, etc) you should buy them when they are available because you never know when some of these highly specialized products will disappear from the marketplace.

Given the apparent current interest and demand in these .22 conversion kits, I would not be surprised if Lage does again offer them in a batch of pre-orders at some point in the future.

Any tips on cleaning the magazines? I've started to get some jams even running the kit well lubed/clean and with recommended ammo. I have to assume the mags are getting dirty. I've never taken them apart.

From 1KPerDay: "Any tips on cleaning the magazines? I've started to get some jams even running the kit well lubed/clean and with recommended ammo. I have to assume the mags are getting dirty. I've never taken them apart."

I take the Black Dog magazines apart, drench the magazine, follower and spring with plastic safe solvent, then swab it out with a cleaning rod & cotton cloth. I then spray it down with an aerosol dry lube. Then, if the magazine is loaded carefully to avoid rim lock (I recommend the Lightnin Grip loader), I get a couple of range sessions with only sporadic glitches. I have 8 magazines and on a typical range session with go through them all once, sometimes twice so say 700 to 1000 total rounds.

Pretty much the same thing, although I get the guts out of them and run a dryer cleaner brush in mine, then the dry lube.

1KPerDay: I noticed on your embedded videos that it appears you have some sort of cocking knob extension on your M11. As the Lage M11-22 kit is very finicky about bolt weight and spring tensions, if you start getting jams that are otherwise unexplained you might try returning to original cocking knob so that the total mass of the reciprocating bolt is identical to what Lage designed.

Yeah they came with two types of bolt knobs. My original flatter disc style knob broke off so I replaced it with the other knob with a sight groove in it. Pretty sure they’re about the same weight. It ran for many thousands of rounds without issue so I doubt it’s a factor, but thanks for the idea.
