Cold Steel Assegai and Polypropylene Training Staff

I just received this spear from my wife for Xmas (she knows what I like), and was wondering about replacement shafts for it. In particular, a polypropylene one, much like Cold Steel's training staff. I'm unsure if the diameters between the wooden shafts and the polypropylene staffs are similar at all, though, so I thought I'd see if anyone here has any knowledge, or has done what I'm thinking about.
