I bought one of these a while back and just never got around to mounting the head and langettes it came with. Let me tell you, I should have done so at once! This is a great thing to have in the vehicle! It comes with a 30" hickory handle and steel langettes than protect the handle under the head. The head has a "raven's beak" point on one side and a hammer on the other. So, you can choose what side you need depending on the situation. The point penetrates plywood with ease. I can imagine it would go right through lesser things even easier. The balance is wonderful, one handed or two handed. I also have the Cold Steel Battle Mace and it's also nice, but the War Hammer is superior in my opinion. The war hammer swings faster, too.
The advantages over a bat need no explanation. The war hammer can still be called a "tool" for locales that forbid clubs. (for example, a geologists pick.)
