I look like a fool chasing the brass when my wife shoots her 9mm. Going behind the chairs next to someone's feet. There has to be a better way of collecting your brass at an indoor range. I've thought about getting a butterfly net. I'd still look like a dork but if I could catch the brass it'd save the running around.

How do you guys do it. If only my wife would shoot a revolver like I do.

Well if you could get her to hold a fish net. Place a big piece of cardboard beside her. I just pick mine up off the ground when I'm done.

Take the ejector out so its a single shot at the indoor range?

NO!
That was stupid of me!

Outdoors, I use a large patio umbrella a local watering hole gave me when the beer company gave them new ones.
Set it open upside down where the brass lands, close it, and go home.
Shake it out when you get there.

I have seen posts here where folks made brass catchers out of PVC pipe and netting to address your problem.

When I was married, My wife was the "Range Chicken" picking up the Brass.
She got tired of bending over to pick them up , so she learned the ejection pattern of each of my pistols, and caught them in the air.
I can still remember her saying, " Hot Hot Hot "

You could get her a brass catcher that attaches to her hand or you can make a stand and use a fish net. I also use an old projection screen sometimes to stop the brass from flying all over.

This isn't very high tech but...Most indoor ranges have a broom or squeegee and dustpan/shovel available so they can clean. Just ask to borrow it. I can't imagine that they would mind you picking up your own brass as long as you weren't sweeping 5 booths away from where you shot. :what: This way your only bending over once or so and not looking homeless and scrounging. Any extra 9's or 40's you get feel free to send em my way. :D

I would love to have a net (and in fact there is another member here helping me with that). The problem I have is my 9mms and others have a standard brass arc, but my 10mms and some others launch brass at least 10 feet away. So, unless I bring one or two calibers - which is unlikely - I'm going to be picking up a lot of brass by hand. Last weekend I lucked out and got the people next to me to pick my OWN brass and give it to me. That may have had something to do with the 10mm brass pelting them though!

Yeah, this is problematic. My Wife and I solve it by taking turns and the person observing chases the brass. As already stated, if you stand and watch you can catch a lot of them in the air or at least corral them and grab them in a bit.

The good thing at the indoor range is that I inherit more brass than I lose so over the last year (except .32 acp) I have inherited enough brass I'll likely never have to buy any. :D

VooDoo

God forbid if it's 5.56 brass I'll bite some ankles and devil come upon me if I see 7.62 brass I will shun thee aside like the hell forbidden satan himself otherwise I'm a helluva guy! ;)

My local ranges have enough brass laying around that I sweep my area after each mag. I end up gaining a few pieces as well. I use an ink stamp to mark all my brass, after final loading and inspection if they are not workups, I tap them on an ink pad and into the box they go. That way I can ID my reloads easily

Probably not as easy at an indoor range, but....

My wife and I play this cool game....

She shoots her 45, I get to catch ejected cases in my hat.

Its a fun game.

I made one similar. Works great one range, not so much on the next. Need to finish tweaking it and adding a strap, etc. If you have nothing it is a great start.

What?? :what:
She picks my brass up for me, because I'm the guy that loads for her! :neener:

I'm going to get around to building a PVC/net catcher sometime this summer, but for now I/she use a reach and grab tool from Harbor Freight. $1.99 on sale. Works great!

Somebody had pics of a little rolling cage that has a handle that you push through the area and the brass squirts up through the spaces in the mesh as it rolls on a thread a while back..looked pretty cool but dont know if it works.

I feel ya man, my range trips have devolved into more scrambling around on my knees like a brass junkie than shooting lately. I'm almost ashamed..:)

I find myself worrying more about where the brass lands than the bullets..

I used to have two truly excellent brass pick up units.

Unfortunately, they became less efficient and noisier as time went on.

I'm pretty sure that they started the downhill slide about the time they became teenagers and discovered girls.
