I liked the local Greenville Fox station's story on it, pointing out how there have been a lot of crimes, even armed robberies, in the "gun free" zone. Heck, even the director of security says he KNOWS that there are guns on campus!

I think this is the TV station I saw it on, and their link:

Unfortunately, is quite lacking compared to the TV version:

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- A gunshot sent the main campus at Greenville Tech into emergency mode and a student to the hospital Friday afternoon.

At about 1:20 p.m., police responded to a call of a gunshot victim in a dorm at Greenville Technical College's main campus on South Pleasantburg Drive.

Campus police said that Chris Ronoke, 19, had a gun on campus and accidentally shot himself with it.

Ronoke lives in the B dorm, where the shooting happened.

After the shooting, the Ronoke was taken to the Greenville Memorial Hospital. Noone else was injured.

On-campus housing was locked down for about an hour, but the alert was lifted about an hour later.

According to the school's student handbook, firearms are prohibited anywhere on the campus at all times.

About 3:30, the school notified faculty, staff and all students with an e-mail alert.

Ronoke is expected to face charges related to the shooting.

All I can say is, "way to go, genius." :barf: You know, they interviewed a student on TV about it, and he said that there are guns on campus carried by both "bad guys" and by "good guys" for protection from them. It's really gonna hurt the cause to legalize CCW at schools if the one that shot himself was one of the LATTER rather than the FORMER...

Every one of us on this board should make it a point to teach everyone around us proper gun handling habits. I just hate it when these kinds of incidents occur :banghead:. They're completely preventable!
