I don't recall reading about cyanide in it. It does cover bone only, charcoal, leather and different types of wood charcoal. He experimented with all types of combinations.

With knife makers/blacksmiths becoming so prolific one may be able to find one in ones own town or city. For a fee they might provide the controlled heat necessary.
On second thought would be a darn good excuse to buy a custom knife.
