I'm a UK citizen and Colorado resident. I'm living and working here legally and hold a 'green card'. I was looking at the CCW permit application for El Paso County. You can see it here (http://www.rmgo.org/ccwguide/counties.shtml) and Question 14 asks if I'm an alien or non-citizen of the United States. It then goes on the say,

"If you answer 'yes' to question #14 there are exceptions that may still allow you to obtain a permit."

But gives no clue as to where I can find out what those exceptions are. Does anyone know where I can get this info?

You can simply call the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and ask the person who answers the phone. They will be able to get you to the information you need. My bet is that you'll be able to acquire a permit.

Through plenty of experience I have little faith in government employees on the end of phone lines and their knowledge of the law.

Another version of the PDF available on the Sheriff's section of the El Paso website says this in parenthesis in q14

"If you answer yes please complete the supplemental form."

But doesn't mention which form or where to get it. I was hoping someone could point me toward the information on the internet or to any supplemental form I need.

Just in case anyone is seeing another form. I've just found another version of the PDF on the sheriff's site where the question is phrased the same as the RMGO version but is question #15.

Thanks for that. If anyone else Google's through looking for it, it can be found here
http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/sheriff/sheriff_T62_R9.htm

I'm sure the El Paso Sheriff can furnish me with a similar form, if not the exact same form. At least I know the requirements now. I'm considered an immigrant alien so everything looks fine.

Thanks
