Hey guys and girls. Moved to Colorado 4 years ago from Boston and after decided that this is the place I will live forever I want get my CCW. Questions....

1) can you recommend a good place to go?
2) is there anyone on here who is a coach/instructor who would do it or has a course available?

Thanks...I live south of denver in Lonetree.

Joe

I can recommend Family Shooting Center out at Cherry Creak State Park. Doug and Stu are the two instructors and they are great.

I just took my NRA Basic Pistol Instructor class with Stu and am waiting for the certification from the NRA.

I cant really steer you to an instructor in the metro area but i will congratulate you on your decision to get your ccw and become personally responsible for your safety and that of the folks you love .

I really enjoyed the insight I got from this fellows CWP class. He has strong ties to Col. Jeff Cooper and is quite opinionated, but makes humor of it.

His class that you would take in order to get your permit is all lecture, four hours, one night. He also is a fine instructor, so you could do one of his classes later on.

That's is the last class I would attend. The NRA class has almost three hours of the law that applies to concealed carry, plus basic introduction, plus safe handling (hands on), plus two hours of range time, + + +.

If you can't find one closer to you, Boulder Rifle Club has classes each month. See their web site for schedules, contacts, etc. Theirs is the twelve hour (four nights at three hours each) NRA course. I'll bet there are many others in the metro area that have the same class.

I would recommend the class Bob teaches. I took it twice, just to brush up on the law. It gets you ready for both the Utah and the Colorado permits and is an 8 hour class.

I wouldn't recommend Gunsmoke for anything, ESPECIALLY, don't let them get ahold of a gun to work on. You never know which of the chimps will get to mangle it. Well, I guess I would recommend them if you like your gun turned into a paperweight or like paying higher than retail prices on guns.

On-Target firearms training. Larry Johnson. He meets his clients at Rocky Mountain guns & ammo in Parker; the range is about 13 miles East of there in Northwestern Elbert county.
